STYLE + DESIGN Fit Check: AIM Services’ Carnival. Saratogians showed up and showed out for AIM Services' final Carnival fundraiser at Vapor. Here's what they were wearing.
AnnBritt Newey
Interior DesignerThis is elegant and modern; it’s an interesting choice for this event.
I have been trying to figure out where to wear this for a long time. My grandmother made these pants for my mother in the ’70s.And how perfect that wide-leg pants are everywhere now—proof that fashion is cyclical. Is that necklace amber?
Yes, and there’s amber on my bag too. It’s from a vintage shop.
Alyssa Evans
AttorneyWow, that’s a real ‘Wow!’ kind of dress!
It’s from Macy’s. I was told this event was Carnival themed, and they always wear a lot of sparkles. I don’t normally wear a lot of sequins. I’m an attorney; I wear a lot of plain suits.
Max Jackoski & Lisa Jackoski
Glens Falls YMCA Volunteer & His MomWhere did Max get that suit, and Lisa, where did you get that terrific jumpsuit?
Lisa: Max’s suit is from a website called Opposuits. I got my jumpsuit on Amazon for $59. I wanted to go understated to let Max be the hero tonight. He is one of three powerlifters representing New York State at the Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis this June. His best lift is the deadlift, and he has a personal record of 231 pounds!
Corey Prince
Luxury Transportation Business OwnerDid you have that suit hanging in your closet?
A lot of my outfits are like this. The shoes are a great touch. They really make the look.
I wore these to a Beyoncé concert. My outfits for Beyoncé are large, eye-catching, and an ode to the artistry and space that she creates. At the concert, her mom crowned me best-dressed attendee in my section.
Nora Sands
ArtistThis is sparkly but understated, gold but not bold gold.
I was thinking of the Carnival theme, and I’m also a cheerleading coach, so I’m into sparkly things—this is my sparkle, shine moment. Can you give me a rundown of where the pieces are from?
The dress is by Devon Windsor, my bag is Dolce & Gabbana, and the shoes are Kurt Geiger.
Krutika Kothari
PharmacistYour dress is very pretty. It leans into the Carnival theme differently than many others here.
I grew up in India, where colors are very important. I’m drawn to colorful dresses. I got this at Marshall’s, and I’ve had it for a while. I liked it, and when I bought it, I just said, “maybe I’ll wear it someday.”
Lisamarie Dapper
Finance DirectorWhat a colorful and spring-y dress!
I thought it looked like the inside of a Carnival tent. And it looks like you added some color stripes to your hair tonight too.
My hair is always like this.
Amy Roman
Consulting Firm OwnerThat necklace! I love the emphasis your ensemble allows that one piece.
I got the necklace at TJ Maxx…the earrings, too. And my bag. My ring is Ippolita. My dress is Lulus.TJ Maxx seems to have some treasures for just the right occasions. Have you shopped there before?
Recently, yes. They’ve had some gems. When I go to galas, I go there.Where are the shoes from?
Jimmy Choo.
Jessica Jablonski
Assistant Director of Education and TrainingI absolutely love your dress, but I have to ask…Why white?
I heard that there was an orange and blue theme tonight, which are AIM’s colors, and I wanted to make sure there was a good vessel for the evening. The absence of color is the essence of color. My choice truly accentuated what AIM represents which is freedom of expression.Where did you get your dress?
I got it at Lulus. The bag is Louis Vuitton—it was a birthday gift from my partner.
Patrick Crocetta
Retired BusinessmanLots of fun things going on here. What a great shirt and tie for a Carnival-themed event.
I looked in stores in Florida, but I bought it online at Amazon. I liked the design and it was appropriate for this occasion.Prev

S P E L L c h e c k , The Text Exhibition at Parlor Gallery
PRLog - March 5, 2015 - ASBURY PARK, N.J. -- “My task, which I am trying to achieve is, by the power of the written word, to make you hear, to make you feel--it is, before all, to make you see.” -Jospeh Conrad
Parlor Gallery is pleased to present our newest exhibition, Spell Check, which was curated with a focus on works that feature text, characters and words. Text and letters strike an immediate and recognizable cord in our psyche, regardless of our understanding of what they mean or the language in which they are written. It is our nature as humans to try to interpret text and speaks to our need for survival, understanding and interpretation of the world around us.Spell Check is a group exhibition that features artists both new to the gallery as well as gallery artists we have exhibited in past programming. The artists range from street artists like Queen Andrea, whose murals have been featured at the Wynwood Walls in Miami during Art Basel Week to sign painters like Los Angeles-based artist, Keith Scharwath, who utilizes everything from butter knives to phone books and a can of 1 Shot to create his unique signs.
The complete lists of participating artists include:
Jessy Nite, Brig Cirel, Jessica Lichtenstein, Pablo Power, Max Rippon, Ray Geary, Queen Andrea, Nora Mulheren Sands, Allen Hampton Leper, Ryan Cronin, Keith Scharwath, Scotty Albrecht, Hyland Mather, Jonny Ruzzo, Brooke Holloway, Kevin Hebb, Mark Goede, Porkchop
The opening night reception will take place at Parlor Gallery, located at 717 Cookman Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ from 7pm-11pm. The exhibition will be on view at the gallery from March 21st until April 30th, 2015.
Please contact us at info@parlor-gallery for more detailed information on the artists, the work or a preview catalogue of this very special exhibit.

Interlude: Margy Rich, Tony Rich, Nora Mulheren, Masumi Nyui, Christopher Priore and Jonathan Yoerger
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Aug. 7 through Aug. 28, 2010The Rymer Gallery has become kind of a home away from home for the Savannah College of Art and Design's MFA grad students, alumni and faculty.
Nashville Scene MagazineInterlude is a new exhibit of work that is being billed as the “second annual” show featuring work from the SCAD-ellites, and until Nashville materializes an MFA visual arts program of our own, we're happy to have ’em. Curated by Rymer's Tonia Trotter, this show features painting and sculpture by Tony and Margy Rich, Christopher Priore, Masumi Nyuhi and Nora Mulheren, who seems poised to steal the show. Mulheren's detailed paintings put gouache to paper to convincingly render the crumpled pages of discarded fashion magazine ads, effectively evoking both the obsessive allure and the built-in obsolescence of designer culture.
